This short play, set in 1917 New Zealand, features Sister Mary Bartholomew, a nun at St Joseph’s Convent in Dunedin, knitting socks for soldiers.
Corporal Johnny Cooper, on the Front Line in France, receives a pair of socks in a Red Cross parcel, and writes back to her, not knowing she's a nun. The story is a poignant reminder of life on the front line and the fragile connection soldiers have with home.
