“There is nothing fair about any of it. You will not find fairness here no matter how hard you search.”
Josie Kerr nervously waits to meet her estranged mother of 15 years. Fay Kerr has been in prison ever since the murder of Josie's father. Josie desperately wants to understand her mother’s actions, while Fay longs to live vicariously through Josie without confronting the moment of her crime. Josie’s desperation to find out what happened between her parents threatens to create another barrier between her and her mother, “Iron” explores a gruelling test of the mother-daughter bond, with their contradictory needs pushing them apart as they try to connect, while also examining the way that prison institutionalises people on both sides of its fences.
The show contains physical violence and discussions of suicide.
