Join Dunedin's newest Street Market, the George Street Market!
We’re thrilled to introduce the George Street Market, a brand-new street market set to transform the beautifully redeveloped George Street in Dunedin into a lively hub of activity. This exciting addition to our events line-up promises to be a hit with both locals and visitors, creating an unforgettable experience in the heart of the city! We expect this new market to be incredibly popular for locals and visitors alike, and we look forward to making it a vibrant and exciting event for all.
The Dunedin City Council is calling for vendors, businesses, artisans, and artists – this is your opportunity to be part of Dunedin’s newest market and showcase your products and creativity to a diverse audience.
So, what is the process to apply?
Choose Your Stall and Purchase Your Registration Ticket here: Select your preferred stall and complete the payment. If all spaces are filled, you can join our George Street Market Stall Holder Waiting List.
Application Review and Decision: DCC reserves the right to decline applications at its discretion. Decisions made by the DCC are final, and no further negotiation will be entered. If your application is declined, you will receive a refund.
Receive Event Details: In January, we will email you all the essential details, including the event map, pack-in/out procedures, and key contact information.
As part of your ticket purchase, please be prepared to submit key details for your participation in the market. You’ll need to provide your company name, contact information, specify whether you’re a commercial or non-commercial vendor and select your stall size and product type from the provided categories. You’ll also need to submit a brief description of your products, including (if possible) their origin and price range, along with your website and social media links. Additionally, please provide a high-resolution image for promotional use, and let us know if you prefer to opt out of having your information included on any marketing for this event or any event held by DCC in the future by ticking the box to opt out on the application form.
We also encourage vendors to participate in enhancing the market experience. Please indicate if you’re interested in organising workshops, engaging with the community, creating exclusive offers, offering expert advice, or sharing feedback and suggestions for potential collaborations. Your involvement will help make the market a vibrant and engaging event for all attendees.
Vendor pricing (all pricing is GST inclusive)

Specific spots for the food vendors on St Andrew Street and Hanover Street will be assigned, and vendors connected to power, on a first-come, first-served basis on the day.
It is important to note that there are strict application criteria that you will need to consider prior to purchasing your site ticket, and if you don’t meet the criteria and still purchase a ticket, the DCC may decline your application. DCC further reserves the right to decline any application for any reason and all decisions made by DCC are final with no further negotiation entered.
Vendor criteria: The George Street Market's focus is on originality, quality, sustainability, and local craftsmanship, providing a diverse range of products to appeal to a wide audience.
George Street Market Stallholder Application Criteria:
1. Product Type: We are looking for creative, contemporary, and original products that are locally designed, grown, or made. Quality and craftsmanship are important, and we encourage products that stand out as unique and distinctive. The connection between the product and its creation process is crucial, as we aim to share the unique brand story of your product with our customers.
2. Originality: We value products that are unique and not commonly found in other retail areas, especially within Dunedin. We support and celebrate work that employs interesting techniques and innovative methods. We are looking for products that offer something different, ensuring a diverse and exciting market experience.
3. Sustainability: We are committed to sustainability and require, where possible, that packaging be recyclable or reusable. We encourage the use of sustainable materials and ethical manufacturing methods. Considerations such as business sustainability, carbon footprint, and product longevity are important to us.
4. Provenance: We support New Zealand designers, makers, artists, and producers. The design, creation, and/or manufacturing of your products should ideally be conducted in New Zealand. If it is not possible for your products to be entirely produced locally due to material availability, please provide evidence to support all claims of provenance.
