You’re invited to join us for a cosy afternoon at Gore’s Little Theatre, with entertainment by some of heartland Aotearoa’s best.

Finalist for the 2023 Best Folk Artist Tūī | Te Kaipuoro Taketake Toa, Butter Wouldn't Melt mix country music and Americana with local stories, observations close to home, dark driving rhythms and haunting harmonies.

Their debut album ‘1931’ was nominated for folk album of the year, covering songs about important moments in New Zealand’s history, including ‘Eve of 31’, written about the Napier earthquake and ‘The Tunnel’ about the ghost of Wellington’s Victoria tunnel.

This year they are back with their sophomore album. Recorded in the hills of Papakowhai, the recipe has been refined but at its heart remains the same. Musically inspired by country’s greats. Lyrically inspired by our beautiful landscape, its past, present and future.

If guitarists are a dime a dozen – and they are – you would still have to spend a lot of folding, paper money before encountering another young guitarists as impressive as Elias Bartholomeo… and no less a musician than Tommy Emmanuel would agree! Having shared the stage and have spent some time with Emmanuel, among others, Bartholomeo has distinguished himself as a young picker who can ably hold his own alongside much older, more experienced musicians. Being similarly assured, with breezy banter and well-selected repertoire complimenting his instrumental and vocal ability and ensuring a genuinely entertaining experience for guitar aficionados and general music fans alike.

Refreshments and snacks available.
