This spring, the Māoriland Hub turns into a cosy little theatre for seven weeks of kiriata and kōrero. From September to November, a selection of Thursdays will be your chance to slow down, sink into a beanbag, sit back in a chair, and lose yourself in the magic of cinema. Bring your own pillow and blanket if you wish!
This one is our special School Holiday screening - something fun for you and the kids to do, and on a budget. Afterwards, we'll chat with Chantelle Murray about her processes in bringing to life The Lost Tiger and what it means for her as an Indigenous woman in film.
The Lost Tiger Synopsis:
Teo is a plucky young tiger and one of the last of his kind. Found abandoned and wearing a mysterious crystal necklace, he is adopted into a big, boisterous kangaroo family of travelling wrestlers. After receiving visions from an unfamiliar land, Teo must suddenly embark on an epic quest to reconnect with his heritage and save his homeland from the clutches of destruction.
Features the voices of Rhys Darby (Flight of the Conchords), Celeste Barber (Runt), and Thomas Weatherall (Heartbreak High).
When:
Thursday, October 2 2025
Event start: 1:00pm
Q&A session with tea and cookies after the screening.
See you soon!
