This spring, the Māoriland Hub turns into a cosy little theatre for seven weeks of kiriata and kōrero. From September to November, a selection of Thursday nights will be your chance to slow down, sink into a beanbag, sit back in a chair, and lose yourself in the magic of cinema. Bring your own pillow and blanket if you wish!

After this screening, we’ll take a deep dive into the translation of this childhood classic, Shrek: Kātahi Te Korokē! in time for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori.

A night for the whole whānau full of pukukata, iconic music from the original DreamWorks film, and pure joy - hearing Te Reo Māori on the big screen.

Celebrate the first Indigenous language reversioning of Shrek with Maaka Pohatu as the voice of the loveable green ogre.

Come as you are, get comfy, and be part of these intimate evenings of cinema and connection.

When:
Thursday, September 18 2025
Event start: 5:30pm

Q&A session with tea and cookies after the screening.
